Levofloxacin Sandoz. Levofloxacin 500mg film-coated tablets. Indications. In adults for the treatment of acute bacterial sinusitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, community acquired pneumonia, complicated infections of skin and soft tissues. Complicated urinary tract infections and pyelonephritis, chronic bacterial prostatitis, uncomplicated cystitis. Complete therapy course in patients who have shown improvement during initial treatment with intravenous levofloxacin. Posology. Tablets 1 or 2 times a day depending on the type and severity of infection and susceptibility of the presumed causative pathogen. Acute bacterial sinusitis 500 mg once daily 10-14 days, acute bacterial exacerbations of chronic bronchitis 500mg once daily 7-10 days, Community-acquired pneumonia 500mg once or twice daily 7-10 days, pyelonephritis 500mg once daily, Urinary Tract Infections 500mg once daily 7-14 days, non complicated cystitis 250mg once daily 3 days, chronic bacterial prostatitis 500mg once daily 28 days, complicated skin and soft tissue infections 500mg once or twice daily 7-14 days. Contraindications. Hypersensitivity to levofloxacin, quinolones or excipients. Epilepsy. History of tendon disorder related to administration of fluoroquinolone in growing children or adolescents. Not recommended in Pregnancy or Lactation. Warnings. Tendon rupture and tendonitis, epilepsy, impaired renal function. Glucose alterations. Psychotic reactions. Prolongation of the QT interval.
